Painting Solar

Today I decided to do some painting. Sometimes I like to just pick up the brush, stand in front of my canvas and see where the inspiration takes me. Usually, I end up painting something completely unexpected and today was no exception. After an hour or two of hard work, I had an image quite unlike any other I’ve ever done. I’d painted a large and busy warehouse where tables are manufactured. On top of its roof, it was set up with one of the best commercial solar systems around Melbourne. Why I was inspired to paint, this I couldn’t tell you. But overall, I’m pretty happy with it.

I spent the afternoon dancing and writing one of my many books, followed by a quick sculpting session. Time really flies when you’re having fun! My progress has been great on pretty much all my projects, although I wouldn’t mind dedicating a little more time to my puppet making. I’ll have to fit it into my schedule somehow.

While doing my other artworks, I started thinking about why I’d decided to paint about solar power. I guess I was trying to portray the benefits of solar power for business, even though I’m not super passionate about it. Usually my art is a bit more abstract but I think I just got caught up in all this hype about the new solar panel models. Next time I’m more likely to paint a distorted and strange galaxy or a postmodernist work. That’s not to say I’m ashamed of what I did. I’m quite proud of my solar panel painting, even if it isn’t my usual kind of work.

I think tomorrow I’ll focus on my sewing and drawing because I have probably neglected them over the last few days. I’d love to get my photo-realistic dragon drawing done, although it might take a day or two more. I’ve been putting it off because I can’t get the eyes right but I just need to push through it.
